Back after some time... The gentle sloth!

There is an old Latin saying... "If the wind will not do your work... take to the oars..."

I guess that's it... don't have the mental strength left right now or the physical will to analyze this statement... But amongst us there are many people, for every one who would take the oars, there would be more than ten who will just sit back and enjoy the ride...

What do I say about such people... they are just so utterly lazy! They are just so lethargic and there mere presence is languid... they are just sloths!

Well, talking of sloths (the animal), at least they are a sweet and docile creation of god... and these gentle sloths, have this incredible air of calmness about them, I could just close my eyes and go to sleep just thinking of them... But not that I don't want to sleep right now... I sure could use it... but these sloths (the animal I mean) are in fact quite an ingenious creation... They spend a lot of time just slothing around... hanging off tress, munching on the leaves which provide so very little energy, and the sloths deal with this through some brilliant economy measures: they have very low metabolic rates (less than half of that expected for a creature of their size), and maintain low body temperatures when active (30 to 34 degrees Celsius or 86 to 93 degrees Fahrenheit), and still lower temperatures when resting.

And oh yes before I forget... these sloths
eat insects, small lizards, and carrion, but their diet consists mostly of buds, tender shoots, and leaves...

Quite a contrast with the "sloths" of our "real world"... forget the insects, lizards or carrion... they get the cake and they eat it too!!! And the poor rowers just keep rowing the boat forward...

Now people, lets not give the gentle sloth a bad name by calling our "non-rowers" or the "free-loaders" a sloth...
